Pops Sawdust Shack

Hello! I’m Kent Young—though most people know me as Pop. The nickname came from my grandsons, and it felt only fitting to name my latest adventure Pop’s Sawdust Shack.

I started Pop’s Sawdust Shack in early 2025 after deciding to retire from a 40-year engineering career. I’ve always admired people who could take a rough piece of wood and turn it into something beautiful. Until now, I simply never had the time to pursue that passion.

I’m still discovering my niche, but I find myself increasingly drawn to live-edge pieces, both domestic and exotic woods. That said, I also enjoy building tabletops, serving trays, cutting boards, and the occasional knickknack.

The purpose of this website is to showcase my work and share updates on what I’m creating in the shop. At this time, I don’t plan to sell directly through the site, though some pieces may be available via Facebook Marketplace. My service area includes St. Johns, Duval, and Clay counties in Florida.
