Why I use Tung Oil, Rubio Monocoat and Odie's Oil
I choose these finishes because they let the wood be what it’s meant to be. These finishes soak into the wood instead of sitting on top of it, bringing out the grain, texture, and natural character without creating a thick, artificial layer.
I like how these finishes feel—warm, natural, and inviting—and how they age over time. Instead of peeling or chipping, they develop a patina that tells the story of use. They’re also easy to maintain and repair, which means my work can be cared for and refreshed without complicated refinishing.
Just as important, these finishes are safer for homes and everyday living. They align with how I build: intentionally, honestly, and with longevity in mind.
